Garcia makes work with a spontaneous and intuitive approach. She is inspired by natural elements and the shapes found in nature. Her work also explores Mexican folklore, memory and identity. Her process channels her memory of making macramé bracelets for hours as a young child, knotting endlessly, moving the strings around to create various color patterns.

The knotting and weaving process that started from those early pieces carries through to her work today. What is most recognizable about her work is the process of sewing, weaving and knotting that she has developed to give the pieces a distinct and natural texture, reminiscent of nature and living plant life.
